Events of general interest to the Division will be promoted and/or covered here. If you are planning or have news of an event you would like featured here, contact the webmaster.

A Southern New York EMM TE clinic was held at Monroe Volunteer Ambulance on August 10th.

The weekend of September 5–7, over forty NSP patrollers from the Eastern Division attended a meeting of Eastern Division Avalanche, Mountain Travel & Rescue, and Nordic (AMN) instructors at Northfield Mountain in Massachusetts.

In addition to items of business, the program included technology presentations and hands-on skills refreshers. GPS navigation, avalanche beacon operation, ropework, and nordic skills were reviewed and reinforced.

Chuck Boyd, Connecticut NSP Avalanche and Nordic Advisor, presented a slide show of his attempt to climb K2 this summer and described his impressions of the tragedy and of the rescue efforts in which he was involved.

Participants conducted a simulated search scenario, which was observed and critiqued by officers of the Central Massachusetts Search and Rescue Team.

Twenty companies contributed catalogs, demo items, and giveaways to the event, making possible a generous “goodie bag” for each attendee and a raffle drawing with door prizes for all. Rossignol and Ortovox representatives were on hand to demonstrate their products.
